Cycling and Mountain Biking

over hill and dale

In Neukirchen and the region, there are countless cycle paths of all types and in every difficulty level. Here, families with small children can find the perfect cycle path just as mountain bike professionals or downhill riders.

If you are a cautious cyclist - or have no small children - you can simply go on the cycle paths in the Salzachtal valley from Neukirchen. Here you can, for example, ride along the valley cycle path to the next village and visit the sights or do an activity there.
If you prefer to travel by mountain bike, then you can do this on one of the world-famous, beautiful side valleys of the Salzach, such as the Sulzbachtal valleys, the Habachtal or the Krimmler Achental valley. Several kilometres of dirt roads are waiting for you here.
If you are a professional on your mountain bike, you can also take the different tours on the pastures and mountains. In addition to this, you can travel with the gondola lift to the Wildkogel and from there, cycle along the various trails into the valley.

Come to us in the Wildkogel Arena  - the El Dorado for bikers!

Tauern Cycle Path Salzachtal

The Tauern Cycle Path is a 270 km long cycle path, which leads from Krimml via Neukirchen to Zell am See, onto Salzburg and finally to the German border.

The route, which is mostly asphalted along the river Salzach and Saalach and the continuous perfect signposting guarantee excellent cycling pleasure for the whole family on every section of the Tauern cycle path. Due to the gradient, when riding along the Tauern cycle path in the direction given, it is mostly downhill, with just a few inclines.

Tip: Ride towards Zell am See and take the Pinzgau local train back - a one-of-a-kind experience for the whole family. Between Neukirchen and Zell am See, you can get on the Pinzgau local train every few kilometres, so that the bike tour is a challenge but not an overload.

Obersulzbachtal Cycle Tour

The famous Obersulzbachtal begins on the southern edge of the Neukirchen district of Sulzau. The wildly romantic valley can be ridden on up to a height of 1900m above sea level and extends over 14 km  in the mountains.

The first kilometres are easy and have a moderate incline. The next 500 altitude metres until Berndalm are steeper - here it pays to have an E-mountain bike.  From the Berndalm at 1500m above sea level, the narrow valley opens into a dreamlike alpine landscape with a gravel path to the end of the valley, from where you can - if you would still like to - go to the Kürsingerhütte on the Großvenediger. The almost unspoiled and natural landscape does a lot of good for the body, mind and soul and doesn't allow you to forget the day!
